Toast For The Day

I once was told don't take life too easy
don't rush yourself so you know what to say
living is a game but not competition
and the only way to lose is by refusing to play

Now it's taken so long to get them to sing the songs
and now they're watching your every move
you didn't want all the attention
confidence was your only intention
and you're feeling like no one will look at you quite the same

I raise my glass to those who oppress their oppressor.
and those not afraid to say what they say
some people cut you down, they're just regressers
with ignorance so easy to come by these days.

while tension is building it feels so fulfilling
and you feel like you've got your money's worth
everyone's got their own opinions
their religious beliefs and dominions
and if somebody hates you I say that just makes you more human

look up and remember you can't live forever
take in a deep breath and enjoy the day
some days directions push you towards the future
some days the past pulls you the other way
